Giving Thanks & Celebrating Local Food

This summer was truly a season of community building and partnerships for the Parkdale Community Food Bank.We had the honor of collaborating with the amazing people at Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market and Community Fridges Toronto, and it was an experience we will always cherish.

For the last few years, Evergreen Brickworks has generously provided Community Fridges Toronto with space at their weekly Saturday farmers market to collect donations from vendors and visitors, and in turn, Community Fridges Toronto has shared that space with us. It has been an incredible opportunity for us to collect donations of fresh produce and at the same time, spread awareness about our mission and organization. We were thrilled to have this chance to diversify the fruits and veggies we could provide to our community while also reducing the food waste created by the market.

At the Parkdale Community Food Bank, we strongly believe in the power of community. We understand that when we come together to support each other, we can create positive change and make a difference in the lives of those around us. That's why we are grateful for the relationships we have built with Evergreen Brickworks and Community Fridges Toronto. We value their support and kindness, and we look forward to continuing to work together to build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities in Toronto.

A bit about the organizations:

Evergreen Brickworks Farmers Market Evergreen started its Saturday Farmers Market in 2007 with 25 local farmers and producers, a great location, and a great community response. Since then, it has grown into the largest farmers market in Toronto. Evergreen's goal is to foster the growth of a resilient food system for people and the planet through supporting sustainability, celebrating diversity, and uniting communities through food.

Community Fridges Toronto Community Fridges TO. is a Toronto-based mutual aid initiative created to nourish our communities and our neighbours. CFTO firmly believe access to food is a right, not a privilege. CFTO operates and manages a network of community fridges throughout the city. These refrigerators provide neighbours the opportunity to donate food as well as take what they need, ensuring accessible food 24/7.

We are proud to partner with such amazing organizations and look forward to continuing to work together to support our communities.
